Department Marketing Statement The VC Summer Nuclear Power Station Finance Department has an opening for a Jr. Accountant located at the Unit 1 in Jenkinsville, South Carolina. This position will support the accounting and finance efforts associated with plant operations and corporate financial reporting. Responsibilities Principle duties will include preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation, creation of PowerPoint presentations for managerial reporting, account reconciliations, and other monthly closeout duties. Candidate must be able to communicate with all levels of management to perform functions related to the day to day operation of the plant, such as assistance in processing accounts payable, responding to inquiries, performing research and cost analysis, and the development and presentation of standard and ad-hoc internal and external financial reports. This position will also assist in responding to periodic data and audit requests from various regulatory bodies, audit groups and our plant partner. Qualifications Position requirements include a 4 year degree in Accounting from an accredited University with a strong understanding of accounting principles, the ability to work effectively with operational and financial personnel, analytical skills, attention to detail and a proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Prior experience with PeopleSoft financial systems and/or PowerPlant is a plus. The successful candidate will also possess strong written and oral communication skills and be a highly motivated self-starter. The ability to coordinate numerous tasks simultaneously, reprioritize work assignments and to work closely in a team environment of experienced professionals to meet tight accounting and reporting deadlines is a must.
