Junior Economist recruitment

The role will incorporate the following functions:

Licensing

This function will work with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to manage a single, integrated process of licensing and registration, the aim of which would be to ensure a streamlined process that helps to minimise bureaucracy and ensure that regulation of providers is proportionate.

Regulating pricing

We would be responsible for designing a pricing methodology and calculating the efficiency requirements for the sector.

Supporting service continuity

The regulator would have powers to assist providers in significant difficulty and it would be our duty, should it be necessary, to come up with a source of finance to draw upon in order to put the mechanisms in place to help the provider tackle the problems. We are most likely to do this through the creation of a ‘risk pool’ - a fund which would be maintained by a levy on providers.

Person and Experience

• Economics/economics-related graduates who have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
