The firm has been around for more than a decade focused purely on electronic research and trading across the equities and Foreign Exchange markets. They pride themselves on being one of the most prestigious quantitatively driven groups across the US with a strong background in bringing on board high calibre mathematicians and allowing them to fully utilise the skill set they have spent many years accumulating. The current focus is towards bringing on board 4 juniors ideally who have just finished their education or are in the process of doing so who will play a major part in the expansion f the groups quantitative research platform over the next few years. The firm are one of the most competitive payers on the market but what attracts most people to the firm is the ability to work on groundbreaking initiatives alongside some of the leading mathematicians across the commercial field.

Responsibilities

 You will be working very closely with senior quants and mathematicians and learning firsthand how your strong mathematical skills can be applied to real life problems. Day to day activities include researching and developing statistical mean reversion models for quantitative research, analysing large scale data sets and optimising this accordingly, finding price discrepancies within financial instruments through the use of analytical research and developing mathematical models that will form the basis of the firms trading strategies. A strong mathematics background and understanding of its application to the real world is preferable. Areas of interest are regression analysis, stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo simulations, optimisation (convex or combinatorial) and time series analysis. Although a mathematics degree is preferred, candidates that can demonstrate strong mathematical modelling skills that have background in engineering or Physics will also be considered but this has to be from an established institution.

You

• Strong academic background in a maths focused subject

• Statistical programming experience across Matlab, R, VBA, Excel.

• A maths or physics Olympiad is highly desirable

• Relevant internships with a statistics focus are preferable

• Understands the application of their academic skills in the commercial environment.
