Role Overview
As a Junior Quant you will be starting your career by learning from the best people in the Industry. You will work your way through different departments to receive on the job training, at the end of the programme you will be assigned to a team where your skills are best suited. Collectively the team focuses on automated, research based trading across all products and asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
Analyzing large volumes of real world financial and price information
- Optimizing and improving algorithmic trading strategies
- Back-testing for refinement and optimization of systems and maximazation of trading PL
- Assist with evolving the firm's trading strategies to keep pace with market developments
- Developing models sophisticated enough to assist complex trading strategies
- Analysis of Trading PL
- Enhance existing systems
- Pronto-type solutions in Matlab
Qualifications and Skills
- An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Applied Maths (A distinction average - transcripts will be required)
- Excellent programming skills (with C++, Java, C#, C or similar)
- Experience with numerical solution techniques, signal processing, optimization
- Practical experience in the development and application of mathematical models in finance or other quantitative field
- Be keen to gain practical experience in trading and delivering solutions into a production environment
- Be a reliable quick thinker who can work under pressure
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Team player but can work independently and unsupervised
- An excellent problem solver who can contribute to innovative ideas

- You must have the ability to attend interviews in either our Sydney or Wollongong Office
- You must have the ability to legally work in Australia
