Latin America Senior Upstream Research Analyst
The Role
Wood Mackenzie seeks experienced professionals to take our America’s research to a new level. You will be tasked with providing our clients with in-depth commercial analysis of assets and companies. You’ll become a recognized expert in the countries and companies that make up the upstream sector in Latin America and be able to put the region in the context of the wider industry.
Main Responsibilities
- Research and collate information by liaising with companies in person and by telephone, and through a synthesis of internal databases, company reports, and other sources of both corporate and play-related information
- Work closely with Sales Marketing to identify new targets and the upside potential of existing clients
- Develop and maintain relationships with research contacts and clients to enhance our research
- Author Insight reports relating to topical issues relevant to your region
- Provide regional expertise into consulting assignments
- Proof read research for publication; ensuring work is of the highest quality, well written and commercially focused
- Make a real and valid contribution to the team with your ideas, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence.
- Support the development of junior analysts, through mentoring and leading by example
- Participate in the ongoing development and expansion of our Latin America upstream research and consulting practice
Required Knowledge, Skills Experience
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline such as geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering or petroleum economics, energy finance, etc.
- At least three to five years of experience in, or analyzing, the energy industry
- Excellent verbal and written English and Portuguese, and must be proficient in Spanish
- Excellent problem solving numerical and analytical skills
- Strong and proven written and presentation skills
- Experience of economic valuation techniques is required
- Familiarity with analyzing corporate accounts
- *Financial sector (energy related) and/or oil and gas sector experience is a plus
