Lead Associate-Environmental Services

Summary of Position Description Under general supervision assists in coordinating activities of Environmental Services personnel engaged in maintaining the hospital in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Observes cleaning crews and ensures all instructions are followed and safety rules observed. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required High Schools diploma preferred Training or practical experience desired in order to understand written and/or oral instructions. Must be able to demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge of special techniques such as stripping and refinishing floors, shampooing carpeting to achieve the desired result, and ability to effectively operate auto scrubber/rotary machine, extractor and other various equipment normally acquired during three to six months of work experience. Must be mechanically inclined for minor repair of equipment. Ability to prepare reports. Some technical knowledge of hospital environmental services or institutional management helpful. Approximately one to two years progressively more responsible related work experience necessary in order to gain knowledge of environmental services processes, learn to operate sanitation equipment and become familiar with materials and supplies utilized in institutional cleaning. Interpersonal skills necessary to determine customer needs and provide timely response to those needs throughout institution and in order to interact with a variety of personnel throughout the hospital in gathering and exchanging environmental services information Analytical skills necessary in order to prioritize work assignments and assist in the development of departmental procedures Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
