Lead Automation Engineer
Location: Markham, On L6G1B3
Lead Engineer – Automation
Description:
The Lead Engineer – Automation will lead a team of Engineers and designers in a refinery project.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong technical knowledge of Instrumentation Controls typically used in the Hydrocarbon or Petrochemical industries. Past industry experience as a Lead Engineer is required. Experience in refinery revamp projects is desirable.
- Familiar with the engineering and design process and project delivery for EPC projects. This includes front end engineering, cost estimates, gated reviews, detailed engineering and construction.
- Applying principles of safety in design and engineering established by codes or industrial practice.
- Selection of Instruments, sizing calculations for valves and flowmeters.
- Thorough knowledge with the development and checking of Automation deliverables. This typically includes documents and drawings such as PIDs, Instrument Index, installation drawings, wiring drawings, loop drawings, MCC interface, control room layouts, cable routing, logic drawings, control narratives, purchase requisitions, bid tab evaluation and technical recommendation.
- Good understanding of Control systems including DCS, SIS and PLC including their architecture, integration with field instruments and facility expansion.
Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for the design integrity, safety, quality and schedule.
- Will be the key person in liaising with the customer, vendor and project team for various phases of the project, including development of basis of design, preparation of front end engineering and detailed design packages.
- Will demonstrate strong leadership skills in making timely decisions and steering the project towards success. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with penchant to develop strong client relationship.
- Independently manage the project resources to meet the quality, project schedule and commitments.
- Prepare project scope of work, planning and scheduling, work-hour estimates, coordination, progress monitoring and reporting.
- Supervise and guide the Automation team to produce quality engineering deliverable consistent with the project standards and safety requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 10 or more years of relevant experience.
- Registered with PEO as a Professional Engineer or eligible for registration.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Reporting and Location:
- The position reports to Manager, Automation.
- Opportunity exists in Markham, Ontario.
