The Lead Data Architect for the Data Warehouse is the Subject Matter Expert for all Primary Data Sources in the Data Warehouse. She is responsible for translating Strategic Business Requirements into Scalable Solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Lead Data Architect must stay fully informed of all Source System changes and the probable impacts on all Reporting systems.
- Support existing Data Warehouse environment including development lifecycle and operations.
- Work as Technical Lead for cross-departmental, multi-platform database development projects.
- Document processes and mentor staff through development lifecycle process.
- Analyze data across multiple sources to design and document logical and physical data models, and maintain the Enterprise Data Warehouse Data Model.
- Gather and define data requirements based on specific application Business Requirements.
- Define conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Prepare normalized models and dimensional models.
- Produce and execute ddl for environments.
- Follow change control procedures for database change management for downstream environments.
- Provide thought leadership in the assessment of existing systems, including performance and design issues. Ensure adherence to architectural standards and practices. Promote design that meets the short and long term business and technical solution needs. Develop best practices, standards of excellence, and guidelines to enforce and guide behavior. Define and validate technical and business requirements to ensure feasibility and completeness of the technical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience of data architecture with one or more of the following: Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in designing conceptual, logical and physical data models, data dictionary maintenance, and metadata management in Oracle.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in dimensional data modeling and business intelligence tools.
Requirements and General Skills:
- Excellent SQL skills for complex data analysis and data quality assurance.
- Exceptional data modeling skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
- Experience designing and implementing data archiving and retrieval processes for up to 10 years of data and billion-row tables.
- Hands-on experience with table spaces, indexes, partitions, and query performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with large teams.
- Demonstrated Ability to communicate and gather requirements from the Business.
- Ability to partner with enterprise architects, business architect, analysts and development team to deliver rapid iterations of complex solutions .
- Client facing skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Project organization, planning, vendor management and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and follow up on unfinished business.
Technical Skills:
- Teradata, Oracle, MS SQL Server.
- Advanced SQL query techniques and automating import/export tasks using Teradata utilities, MS SQL Server DTS and SSIS.
- Mastery of stored procedures, SQL coding, queries, index and database IO performance tuning.
- Comprehensive understanding of Data Warehouse design principles.
- Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve complex data integrity issues.
- MS and Teradata Certification preferred.
- Subscription-based industry experience preferred.
