Lead Internal Auditor – Energy Trading recruitment
This major multinational integrated energy company is seeking a specialist auditor with strong commercial acumen to join it's internal audit function. You will gain a wide variety of exposure to all areas of the business though in this role, your natural focus will be on the midstream energy trading business.
The audit function is very well respected internally and is proud that it is perceived as a great talent pool from which the rest of the business looks to hire. Hence this opportunity represents an excellent career platform and you can expect to have the opportunity to progress into a new challenge in 2-3 years - typically in either a financial or operational role elsewhere in the business.
Typically you will spend 50% of your time on operational reviews; 25% on financial reviews and 25% on projects. Specific responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver audits covering a range of business processes across the various energy businesses
- Engage and challenge Head of Departments, General Managers, and Finance Controllers to help shape the business control environment
- Work with the business to provide assurance on and governance of, key projects and critical change activities
As the ideal candidate you will be ambitious and have a proven track record of success in audit, control assessment, business review and / or project management assurance within a multinational environment or larger professional firm. Additionally you will:
- Hold an accounting or MBA qualification
- Have in depth knowledge of the risks within midstream energy sector eg market structure; trading/hedging and optimisation; market and credit risk including PaR/VaR modelling, calculation and reporting; gas and power transportation; energy balancing and logistics; and energy origination
- Be aware of IAS39 and derivatives accounting and the resulting business implications
- Experience in the use of data analytics and innovative audit techniques to add value, efficiencies and coverage to the audit process
- Have a demonstrable track record of building strong, effective and influential relationships with senior stakeholders
- Be experienced in leading successful teams, including coaching and managing performance
- Have eligibility work within the UK without requirement for sponsorship
