Leading Insurer – Head of Legal and Compliance recruitment

Responsibilities:

Ensuring the Hong Kong Office's compliance with legal, corporate and financial regulations governing the insurer's licences, market conduct of financial adviser representatives, and securities dealing license
Monitoring of business risks, possible fraud and illegal activities in Business Units. Ensure risks are appropriately mitigated, effective controls implemented and enforced.
acting as local HK Legal in-house counsel Company Secretary to BU, responsible to review and draft all legal documents in accordance with local BU requirements.
Managing local external legal counsel
Ensuring that legislative or precedent changes and developments are acted upon, reviewing arrangements with relevant authorities as appropriate.
Developing a robust and risk based framework for corporate governance and compliance of Business Units, covering accountabilities, reporting and controls.
Ensuring compliance with regulations covering, customer protection, market conduct of life insurance and funds distribution, prevention of financial crime.
Ensuring that the company maintains a good relationship with Office of commission of Insurance ('OCI'), Securities and Futures Commission ('SFC') and Hong Kong Federation of Insurance ('HKFI') and other government bodies.

Requirements:

Tertiary qualification
10 years' experience in financial services industry with at least 5 years in Legal Compliance role and managerial role
Professional insurance qualification
Locally qualified lawyer to Hong Kong Bar
Proficient in securities dealing business, life business, fund management and fund administration operations, laws and regulations
Good knowledge of compliance regulations, Hong Kong Laws and Regulations.
Understand needs based selling, fact find process, product recommendation, training competency.
Good negotiation and inter-personal skills
Good in managing a team of executives.
