Lean Process Improvement Specialist

For this large tier 1 investment bank we are looking for a Lean finance change engineer to be a catalyst for a change to facilitate significant performance improvement within departments. The candidate will be a catalyst for change to facilitate significant performance improvement within his project and will gain a holistic view of the overall strengths and weaknesses of a department.

Core objectives include: Lead the delivery of targeted process reviews utilising Business Engineering tools, assist management with the setting of targets and lead a team of 6-8 individuals. Frequent interaction with senior management interaction gives the candidate high responsibility and visibility

Tasks / Responsibilities

1. Typically conducting projects as part of a team, using the 5D LEAN methodology

- Top down analysis and bottom-up observations

- Clear planning and execution of improvement actions in a condensed timeframe

- Synthesis of main findings of analysis

- Preparing and facilitating workshops

- Raising awareness and getting buy in for change

2.  Managing the project progression on a day-to-day and mitigating issues/risks

3.  Root cause analysis of identified problem areas

4.  Key metric definition and ongoing performance review

5.  Challenging the current operating environment

6.  Identifying innovative value added solutions

7.  Documentation and presentation of findings

8.  Project planning and implementation

9.  Stakeholder/relationship management and coaching new mindsets and behaviours

10.Team management/daily huddles

Experience | Exposure

Critical:

1.  Excellent problem-solving skills, able to identify and structure issues, run accurate analyses and synthesize recommendations

2.  Focused on driving and delivering results

3.  Taking information from real life observations, not theory

4.  Willing to spend time on the floor with the teams doing the work

5.  Good with people – able to listen, handle and resolve team tensions and influence decision making

6.  Able to facilitate and lead workshops and working groups, and check activities against promises/commitments

7.  Good verbal and written communications skills across all levels (including good presentation preparation and delivery skills)

8.  Good team player, knows how to build his/her own network

Essential:

1. Lean or Process improvement/re-engineering experience

2. Visionary, able to design appealing visions of the future/ thinking out of the box

3. Never satisfied with current performance/searching for perfection/attracted by tough challenges

4. Risk-friendly, able to take a decision quickly without mastering all parameters

5. Doing everything possible to get things done on time

6. Able to work with limited direction

7. Program/Project Management experience

Preferred:

1. Subject matter expertise in one or more of: Derivatives, Equities, Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities

2. Project management qualification

3. Lean or Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma Certification

4. Consultancy experience

Exposure (Recommended)

2/3 waves at Lean Lead level on large scale projects (scope cross region and division, affecting 100 FTE, and achieving capacity benefits of 15%)
