The School of Accountancy, Albany Campus, has a vacancy for a leader in teaching and research at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. We are a growing school offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
Our Albany campus is located in Albany, a northern suburb of Auckland. The campus has state-of-the-art academic and recreational facilities. The School of Accountancy is located within the College of Business. The College has a proud history, with New Zealand's longest running MBA, journalism, and entrepreneurship/small business programmes. The College comprises five schools: Accountancy; Aviation; Communication, Journalism Marketing; Economics Finance; and Management. We have programmes on three campuses (Albany, Palmerston North, and Wellingon) plus New Zealand’s oldest and most substantial distance education offering. We are accredited by AACSB and AMBA, alongside several discipline-specific endorsements.
LECTURER
The successful candidate:
- possess or near completed a Doctoral degree in accounting
- will have demonstrated potential for producing high quality research outputs
- may be asked to teach in any area of Accountancy.
SENIOR LECTURER
- Prepare, present and examine papers offered by the School of Accountancy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This involves conducting lectures, tutorials and seminars in courses that have been assigned by the Head of School.
- Provide students with consultation time on course related matters as appropriate.
- Supervise postgraduate students at levels up to and including doctoral study.
- Undertake research activities, which lead to publications in international refereed journals, presentations of papers at international and regional conferences and presentations at appropriate seminars.
- Attract research funding from external and internal sources.
- Undertake continuing personal professional development.
- Participate in community service activities that further advance the professional/discipline, consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan.
- Serve on University/College/School Committees as appropriate.
- Ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, research and community service and administrative activities.
- Other duties as directed by the Head of School.
Preferred areas of teaching and research for both the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer position include one or more of the following: Management Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and Accounting Information Systems.
