Legal Bookkeeper - Belfast - Permanent Role - Part Time £18,000 - £22,000 per annum pro rata
Hays are currently working with a reputable Practice based in Belfast, to help them appoint a new Legal Bookkeeper to manage all accounts for the office on a day to day basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably experienced Legal Bookkeeper to join an established team of staff and build a long term career. The successful applicant will possess strong bookkeeping / accounting experience in a legal setting and be committed to joining with a busy team on a permanent basis.
Typical duties Responsibilities are listed below
General Bookkeeping
Daily posting of accounts to office and client accounts office and client cheque books lodgements of cheques and cash to bank
Checking bills and cash statements (for conveyancing and estates)
e-banking - reconciliation and tracking and allocating incoming funds
Creating Direct Debits
Making electronic payments by TT, BACs etc for mortgage redemptions etc
Confirming sufficient funds for conveyancing completions
Investing client monies on trust, keeping interest updated and monthly reconciliation of trust monies, closing of trust accounts and finalising interest
Month end reconciliation of all accounts
Quarterly law society reports
Year end reconciliation and reports and assisting accountants with annual audit and preparation of year end accounts.
To check incoming invoices and to make payments at appropriate times having checked accuracy of invoices
To check and enter pro- forma accounts, converting these to final invoices on payment
VAT
To retain VAT payment records, complete return and make payment on-line
Payroll PAYE
To prepare weekly wages for staff
To make PAYE return online
To update and confirm tax codes, P60 and P45
To make NIC payments
Partners
To prepare Millennium reports to partners (bad debtors, aged debtor list, outgoings, expenditure etc)
Any other accounting duties as required by the Partners
Additional
Ground rent demands, collection and payment out
