Compliance assesses the regulatory risk in the region and provides policies, procedures, programs and guidance to assist the firm in meeting the regulatory requirements.
The role of this position is to be a senior member of the Internal Governance Team within the Compliance Department, interacting with management of businesses and control functions, giving advice and guidance promptly.
Representation on Committees on behalf of the department will be commonplace and chairing meetings will also be required.
In time, the role holder may be asked to take on directorships of internal J.P. Morgan companies.
Briefings for management will need to be prepared and presented.
The role also requires the building of relationships with key regulators.
Internal Governance and Legal Entity OversightProvide oversight of the regulated and unregulated entities of the group in the UK and EMEA regionSupport Finance with the planning and monitoring regulatory capital requirements and Treasury on matters concerning the UK liquidity frameworkSupport the Boards and NEDs in their governance role, working closely with the Office of the SecretaryEnsure the regulatory capital and licences are up-to-date and line with the growth of the business and legal entity strategyProvide Compliance support and booking entity advice on one-off transactions and New Business InitiativesFacilitate special projects, including business migrations and legal entity restructuring, MA activity and reorganisationsAdvise on permissions, passporting and the interaction of UK, European and US regulatory regimesRegulatory Liaison and DevelopmentsMaintain close liaison with JPMC's regulators (OCC, Fed FSA).
Ensure regular and ad-hoc non-financial regulatory reporting is performed, help plan visits, including the FSA Arrow review, and provide support to the businessApply for permissions, passports, waivers and notifications and make notifications as neededEstablish links with line of business and risk and support functions to ensure regulatory developments are communicated appropriately
Merger / Restructuring / Acquisition Activities
Being the focal point for the merger restructuring activities within the departmentLiaise with external advisors FSACoordinating presentations for the FSA on these aspects and preparing / submitting material
