Legal Counsel – In-House Financial Institution recruitment
The primary responsibilities will be to provide advice to business divisions and management on legal and regulatory matters as well as practical issues arising from trusts, pension schemes and investment funds. You will also monitor and review internal compliance reports, regulatory filings and legal documents with a view to promoting and maintaining an effective system of risk management in the group of companies and service providers.
The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of post-qualification legal experience in law firms or as in-house counsel at financial institutions. Experience in drafting and interpreting legal documents and compliance requirements relevant to ORSO, MPF and SFO regulations is essential. Fluent in English and Chinese is a must for this role.
Responsibilities
- Report to the General Counsel to manage and coordinate the Legal Compliance Department and deputize when required;
- Provide review of legal documentation including vendors, client and other contracts and agreements;
- Provide legal advice to the business units and management on legal and regulatory matters arising from trusts, pension schemes and investment funds;
- Provides corporate secretarial support to the board of directors;
- Helps the department maintain a positive compliance culture within the group and in relevant service providers and foster good working relationships with regulators, service providers, contractors and intermediaries;
- Helps prevent and handle breaches and complaints;
Essential Technical Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in drafting and interpreting legal documents and compliance requirements relevant to ORSO, MPF and SFO regulations is essential;
- Well versed in English and Chinese;
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification legal experience in law firms or as in-house counsel at financial institutions.
