Messaging Architect Engineer

The opportunity

To manage, engineer support Swiss Re's Messaging Collaboration infrastructure services for the all customer base. The principle focus will be to ensure the delivery of cost effective and high availability services in line with business objectives and formal Service Level Agreements, financial objectives, IT governance requirements and IT standards. Additional focus will be on conceptual design architectural enhancements/changes on an infrastructure level.
Ensure the engineering stability, optimal high available configuration and performance of Messaging environments are delivered globally and covering services such as: Domino Email messaging calendaring, Domino client web applications, Blackberry iPhone mobile messaging, Sametime Instant messaging, Faxing solutions, EMR mail archiving retrieval, Domino Test Dev environment management
Ensure the operation and delivery of Messaging services are provided globally by: Support provision at 3rd level for all services, Request fulfilment to the customer in line with SLA's, Incident and Problem resolution to the customer in line with SLA's when required. Proactive Monitoring and Management of services in line with SLA's, Follow Change Management workflow process. Providing information for effective Configuration Management. Liaison and escalation with internal IT colleagues and external Service Providers in the delivery of these services.
Maintaining the availability, integrity and security of production and development and data including the following:

Overall performance and tuning management, Conformance to IT Security guidelines and IT standards, Conformance to IT governance guidelines and IT standards, Assisting the business in managing their use of IT services

Continual assessment of the current Messaging architecture and its integrity and that of the future,
based on the following:

Responsibility to understand the current environment architecture , its standards and upkeep including clear documentation. Close cooperation with Solution Delivery to design the system to deliver on Business requirements, Forming a knowledge bridge between the business and technical implementations applicable to the Messaging environments. Provision of design concepts, strategies and planning for any future Messaging service delivery platforms or environments.

Maintaining all engineering operational documentation in relation to all environments within area of responsibility. Actively create and maintain accurate Knowledge Base articles for area of responsibility.
Ensure that the backup disaster recovery strategy meets business requirements, recommend and gain approval to implement changes as necessary. At the same time make sure Global standards are followed.
Participate when required on customer driven projects providing expertise and consulting. Participate in or lead global service improvement and integration projects in co-ordination with colleagues in other locations. Ensure conformance of any tools used in the execution of their duties or operation services within their responsible platforms are compliant with Global standards

About you

Minimum 5 -7 years technical expertise of Lotus Notes Domino server administration and Lotus

Notes client support.

Minimum 3 years experience of architectural

design concepts enhancement planning at an
Infrastructure level.

Trained to CLP (Certified Lotus Professional)

standard in Domino Administration for release R6 -
R8.

Experienced in Notes formula language LotusScript for application development requirements and troubleshooting an advantage.
Strong knowledge of Blackberry (BES/BAS) server

administration and management for release 5.
Blackberry device and troubleshooting skills are
desirable.

Experience awareness of other Mobile service

provision - Lotus Notes Traveler iPhone / iPad
integrations.

Knowledge of associated 3rd Party tools an advantage - IQSuite, Trend, GSX
Knowledge and experience of supporting

hardware platforms - Solaris / Linux, Windows
2003 2008 64bit, VMWare.

Good experience in planning,designing, leading the implementation of Messaging platform

migrations or changes to the environment that
delivers it.

ITIL Foundation V3 trained.
Wide experience working with a diverse team of

professionals, both internal and external and geographically dispersed.

Possess a very strong customer oriented and focused mindset towards service delivery.
An analytical and pragmatic approach to problem

solving but able to respond to emergency requirements.

Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new

ideas, strategies and technologies.

Able to provide 24x7 third level support as required.
Fluent in spoken and written English, knowledge

of German knowledge is a plus

Willingness to travel as necessary to the role
