Job Description Job Classification: Contract Aerotek is looking for 2 CNC Machinists to perform one or more machine functions to produce parts and components for heavy equipment. This company is located in Billings, Montana. Responsibilities: - Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences. - Set up and operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces. - Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts. - Lift work pieces to machines manually, or with hoists or cranes. - Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction. - Implement changes to machine programs, and enter new specifications, as needed. - Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation and control coolant systems. - Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems. - Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences. - Clean machines, tooling, and parts, using solvents or solutions and rags. - Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors, and to obtain approval to continue production. - Maintain machines, and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools and replace dull cutting tools. - Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments,. - Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs. - Monitor machine operation and control panel displays, and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions. - Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. - Set up future jobs while machine tools. Requirements: This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years of recent machining experience w/ metals, strong math blueprint reading skills. Should be able to set up, operate perform basic maintenance on machines. A two year Associate Degree from a technical/trade school is preferred. At least five (2) years of previous heavy manufacturing machining experience is preferred. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving objects (materials handled and transported throughout the plant via cranes, fork trucks and other employees). The employee is also regularly exposed to hot chips that are emitted throughout the machining process as well as various other operations ongoing throughout the plant. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The employee is also frequently exposed to sharp and abrasive edges which may result in scrapes, cuts and bruises.
