Maintenance Mechanic “B”
Position Summary:
Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for the following:
The current vacancy in the Maintenance Department is to be filled with an experienced rotating equipment / heavy equipment mechanic.
Essential Functions:
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental protection initiatives/policies and support the implementation of the DN HSE Management System to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, and environment and regulatory compliance.
- Repair and maintain Plant rotating and heavy equipment to assure safe and reliable use.
- Maintain equipment maintenance records and work orders to assure timely maintenance task completion.
- Document parts and supplies usage to assure necessary parts and supplies are readily available and to control costs.
- Safe operation of maintenance equipment and tools.
- Safe operation of plant rolling stock.
- Equipment, system and process troubleshooting skills.
Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.
Requirements:
Education: High school graduate required. Graduate of technical school specializing in heavy equipment mechanical/electrical repair and maintenance preferred.
Experience: Four (4) years of demonstrated experience; Seven (7) years preferred.
Interactive Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and to communicate clearly in writing as well as verbally.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical problems.
Administrative Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Requires good analytical and organizational skills.
Technical Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated working experience, knowledge and understanding of rotating equipment / heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
- Demonstrated working experience in industrial electrical wiring installations, troubleshooting and repairs related to rotating equipment / heavy equipment.
- Preferred knowledge and experience to include; ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics, competence in operation of plant rolling stock and familiarity with micrometers and dial indicators.
- Knowledge and experience in one or more other maintenance areas preferred; such as plant electrical, plant instrumentation, pipefitting and insulating, welding, etc.
Special Requirements:
- Own and have available a set of basic hand tools as prescribed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Willing to work overtime and respond to call out work as required by the plant.
- Credentials and references to substantiate experience and skills.
Work Environment Physical Conditions:
- Physical Requirements
- Standing: 2-7 hours per day.
- Sitting: ½-2 hours per day.
- Walking: 2-4 hours per day.
- Lifting: 50 lbs frequently.
- Climbing: Stairs and/or ladders daily.
