Fluor is seeking the nation’s top Maintenance Technician III - Utility Plant Operator to meet our growing demands in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Responsibilities include:
- Proper operating of the boiler, air compressor and chiller systems.
- Monitoring equipment and systems performance and making required adjustments to maintain plant production within specified limits.
- Accurately taking and logging gauge and meter readings.
- Performing technical and general maintenance work on a variety of facilities and building equipment, systems, structures, and hardware, including air handlers, domestic water, chilled water, hot water, steam, building exhaust, compressed air, controls, lighting, electrical, security systems, fire systems, etc.
- Performing lubrication and other corrective and preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Evaluating problems with equipment, planning repairs and modification to equipment, locates original or alternate parts to be ordered.
- Responding to emergency situations, switches to back-up equipment or shuts down equipment as conditions warrant.
- Reading local indicators/gauges and/or computer consoles at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Utilizing manual, automatic and computerized controls to bring equipment into prescribed operating ranges.
- Logging equipment problems and informs supervisor of items needing repair.
- Maintains records of operating conditions and actions taken.
- Assisting in the performance of functional/operational tests to evaluate equipment/systems capability and reliability.
- Assisting with implementation of standard trade practices and procedures including appropriate safety precautions.
- Performing housekeeping, scheduled maintenance, calibrations and water quality checks as required.
- Complying with all Fluor Corporation safety requirements and programs.
Requirements include:
- High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
- Experience with centrifugal compressors/steam boiler systems preferred.
- Utility plant systems and operations background desired.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- NC State Driver’s License
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
