Maintenance Technician Job in Minneapolis, Minnesota US

Job Description

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·         Follow all safety and quality requirements/procedures while working with moderate independence.

·         Perform functions requiring working knowledge of electrical test equipment such as a volt -meter.

·         Install, maintain, move, repair and service equipment and machinery throughout the facility.    

·         Maintain machinery tool (i.e. impact wrenches and other pneumatic tools)using a preventative maintenance schedule.

·         Plan and layout details of equipment or project in accordance with general plan of construction and installation prepared by plant engineering, immediate supervision, and manufacturer of equipment.                                                    

·         Re-assemble parts and units, attach and fasten parts and units to equipment, machine frame or member, and completely re-assemble unit.

·         Install, check, anchor and test completed project, new machine, or a complete systems or unit.

·         Operate heavy equipment as necessary.

·         Perform maintenance functions requiring working knowledge of HVAC and basic carpentry.        

·         Perform other related or similar duties as required such as use of a computer to track work orders and maintenance schedule.

Requirements

 

The employee must be available and willing to come in after work hours on an on-call basis. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, oil and coolant. Occasionally exposed to extremes of heat and cold. Some repair work requires working for short periods in confined spaces.   

                                                                         

PLC electrical background preferred.

Two year technical degree in a maintenance related field and/or proof of an equivalent work experience in a similar working environment is required. Has working knowledge to install, maintain, repair, and service complex, extensive, heavy, and large apparatus, equipment, and machinery, involving electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic devices, mechanisms and units; rig and move large or heavy equipment safely and with minimum interference to production; fit and assemble repair parts to obtain proper operation of equipment and machines; use simple machine tools, various hand tools, and portable power tools; understand and use of drawings, shop mathematics, and engineering specifications. Ability and willingness to learn computer software to track work orders and maintenance schedule. Other skill sets desired include HVAC, basic carpentry, and knowledge of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes.

 

Tool box, fixtures, dollies, power hoist, jigs, portable power tools, vise, blocks, chains, hoist, and hooks. Standard hand tools. Complete set of flex handles, ratchets, sockets, deep sockets, box and open end wrenches, hand wrenches, torque wrenches, personal computer.
