The Team
The CommInsure business operates in accordance with its Risk Management Strategy (RMS), which is the centrepiece of the Risk Management Framework (RMF). Whilst the business is responsible for managing its risks, the Wealth Risk Management CommInsure (WRMCI) team is the custodian of the framework and assists the business to implement the framework to fulfil its obligations under the RMS. WRMCI provide risk advice and support for CommInsure. WRMCI aim to work with the expertise of our business partners to deliver high quality, commercially sensible and pragmatic risk management solutions for all of our stakeholders.
WRMCI are involved in a wide range of activities which include risk appetite development, risk governance, risk profiling and controls management, monitoring and issue management, quantitative risk assessment, project risk support, compliance with obligations, regulator contact and breach management.
The Role
This role supports the CommInsure strategy by assisting the Life and General Insurance business of CommInsure with the implementation and continuous improvement of a risk management and compliance framework that supports optimal risk / return decisions, within its risk appetite. In addition, the role provides the business with confidence to operate and grow within appropriate governance requirements.
Main Duties
- Be a recognised trusted adviser to key customers
- Assist in monitoring regulatory/industry correspondence and the status of the implementation of legislative change within the CommInsure business;
- Facilitate compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations through the analysis and communication of changes impacting the CommInsure business and the maintenance of legislative change and obligations registers;
- Assist in the preparation of reports for business, management and Board stakeholders in relation to the status of the implementation of legislative changes, Regulatory Risk and key correspondence with Regulatory authorities
- Review policy holder Communication material as part of the Communication material due diligence process;
- Provide ongoing advice to WRMCI Service Team members on the impact of legislative change on their line of business;
- Facilitate education sessions on legislative/regulatory change for WRMCI Service Team representatives;
- Support the WRMCI Senior Manager, Governance to maintain the CommInsure Policy Framework and support the WRMCI Service Teams to ensure appropriate governance and policy assurance;
- Assist in the delivery of a centralised, competent and efficient Risk Management Framework that enables the WRMCI Service Team to apply risk and compliance methodologies that are progressive and meet professional standards; and
- Support and enhancing a risk/return culture across CommInsure
Experience Required
- Working knowledge of financial services laws, regulations and regulatory requirements, preferably in the superannuation and insurance industries;
- Strong interpersonal competencies particularly in relation to influence and negotiation, written and oral communication.
- Proven skills in managing relationships with clients, working to deliver outcomes which enable the business to deliver on its objectives through collaboration.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Working knowledge of IBM/ OpenPages Operational Risk Management tool (or similar)
