These roles will sit within the EMEA Stress Testing Operations team within EMEA Risk Architecture. This area will manage an end to end stress testing and ICAAP process for business and legal entities across EMEA. The team will comprise of 8 individuals who will be based in Brussels and London, but will travel and ensure appropriate coverage across all countries as required. A key attribute underpinning the team will be consistency of approaches through using internal validation and controls processes, consistent templates, systems and methodology.

There are 3 Roles available. These roles will report into the Senior Stress Testing Managers, Risk Architecture, based in Canary Wharf, London.

Role Description

These positions are a part of the EMEA Stress Testing Operations Function. This role involves on-going maintenance and development of the Economic Capital framework, allocation of Economic Capital to business lines and entities, responding to regulatory requirements and business changes. Responsible for communication and explanation of the framework, Economic Capital concepts and describing the underlying models to a variety of stakeholders.

The company quantifies risk by type (Credit Risk, Operating Risk, Market Risk, Interest Rate Risk, and Strategic Risk etc) in a manner acceptable to bank regulators. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining statistical models, data analysis, monitoring their input parameters, outputs and preparing capital recommendation reports. The incumbent must also ensure that the models are documented and validated prior to presentation to relevant committees and Boards.

The incumbent will be responsible for production and on-going updates of the stress testing schedules for their areas of responsibility, ensuring any updates are included in the consolidated EMEA schedule. Stress tests will be produced both on a routine quarterly and ad-hoc basis. Therefore the incumbent must be a competent data analyst, as well as have the ability to produce high quality qualitative documents.

Working closely with the Senior Stress Testing Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for processing calculations and documentation for regulatory capital and stress testing for allocated key areas of the region and must have the seniority and communication skill to be able to explain and obtain buy-in for these approaches from executive management, committees and Board members.

The incumbent must organize workshops and committee meetings, as well as scheduling requirements into existing committees to ensure demonstration of the use of stress testing for the areas they are responsible for as well as maintenance and preparation of audit files for the whole process.

The incumbent will be required to support the Senior Manager in maintaining relationships with regulators in the area they are responsible for, therefore, experience or knowledge of supervisory approaches and interview techniques with regulators is vital.

The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing reports to regulatory bodies, and also participation in capital related supervisory reviews, and preparation of materials as requested by regulators, therefore demonstrable experience and awareness of supervisory review processes is vital.

Qualifications

Key Requirements

The incumbent must have demonstrable experience and knowledge of the following disciplines:

Advanced modeling techniques for credit, market, operational and concentration risk

Data quality management, data analysis and reconciliation processes

Forecasting economic and regulatory capital

Maintenance and use of automated stress testing tools

The role holder must be highly self-motivated and able manage high volumes of workloads and priorities effectively during peak times to the standards and within the boundaries of the EMEA Stress Testing Framework. The role holder will also have the opportunity to participate to the ongoing development of the Framework.

The incumbent must have experience in managing stakeholder relationships across a range of levels. The incumbent will be required to deputise for the Senior Stress Testing Manager as required, reporting into senior level committees and Boards in the areas they are responsible for.

The role holder must be fully conversant with current regulations in relation to advanced measurement approaches for capital assessment and also stress testing across the EU. It would be advantageous to also have a good working knowledge of Pillar 1, liquidity and recovery and resolution requirements.

The incumbent, as part of the wider team will be required to undertake analysis of regulations and build remediation plans for recommendations and implementation in-region and it is vital the role holder is able to understand and comply with these as well as input to and work within internal guidelines.

Very strong analytical skills, strong project-working skills, (i.e. ability to manage tasks to a schedule), willingness to work long hours when required and ability to work within a team. Must have a good working knowledge and proven expertise of advanced quantitative modelling approaches for ICAAP/Pillar 2 in Europe. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, in particular very strong Excel skills is essential

Must have very strong communication skills in particular the ability to explain complex Economic capital concepts to a non-expert audience in easy to-understand language. Must also be able to deal with multiple stakeholder relationships effectively. The role holder will regularly interact with peers, junior staff, senior managers and executives and Board members across the region.

The role holder must also be a proven team player, and be willing to be flexible enough to support the rest of the team when deliverables must be met, as well as being able to support and be aware of wider team deliverables.

Degree level and / or relevant practical experience in one of the following: MIS, Finance, Statistics, Information Quality. Professional Financial or Risk Qualification or 5-7 years direct experience.

Preferably, prior knowledge or experience of Cognos TM1, Credit Risk Data warehousing, Advanced modeling techniques, EU, FSA and NBB supervisory approaches.

Overall strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of advanced methodologies and experience with the ICAAP Process and MI production. Strong documentation skills with good interpersonal and communication skills.
