Manager, Health Promotion
Highly strategic management position providing professional direction, development and oversight of the employees and activities of the Health Promotion Department. Position will manage and oversee all employee activities related to the development and delivery of health promotion / improvement / management programs for members. Provide oversight and recommendations for communication of information on health management programming for members, employer groups, brokers, consultants, community, media, and organizations through a variety of mechanisms and venues.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and develop of health promotion programs and implementation to meet marketplace needs.
- Direct all department activities required for accreditation.
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting department and program performance measures.
- Provide health promotion consultative services to select high profile large employer groups.
- Evaluate and implement applicable contracts.
- Identify, research, process, resolve, and respond to customer inquiries and correspondence via telephone, written communication and/or in person.
- Responsible for the review, update, and accuracy of documentation, computer files, policies, and procedures related to the departmental goals and objectives.
- Consult and coordinate with various internal departments, external plans, providers, businesses, and government agencies to obtain information and implement operational changes and process improvement.
- Keep status of unit current in accordance with metrics, systems, procedures, forms and manuals through staff meetings and verbal and written communications.
- Provide motivation and encouragement to subordinates, conduct performance evaluations, identify and coordinate training needs, make determinations regarding disciplinary actions.
- Interview, evaluate, and make recommendations in regard to employment decisions.
- Participate in continuing education and current developments in the field of health and wellness, medicine and managed care at least annually.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ year of experience in clinical field of practice, health promotion and wellness, or other health care related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years in a supervisory/management role required.
- Bachelor's Degree in health or dietetic field of study or Post High School Nursing Diploma from an approved program.
- Active, current, and unrestricted license to practice in the State of Arizona as a health professional, including RN, LMSW, LCSW or active national registration as a Registered Dietitian preferred.
- Certified Health Education Specialist or Certified Wellness Program Specialist/manager a plus.
- Strong wellness product/program development and implementation skills as well as current wellness and health promotion program knowledge (required).
- Ability to main confidentiality and privacy in consideration of State, Federal, BCBSAZ and other accreditation requirements.
- Current clinical knowledge.
- Analytical knowledge necessary to generate reports based on available data and then make decisions based on reported data.
- Capable of investigative and analytical research.
- Ability to practice interpersonal and active listening skills to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Strong presentation, written and verbal skills.
- Ability to interpret and translate policies, procedures, programs and guidelines; navigate, gather, input and maintain data records in multiple system applications; build and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and work with multiple priorities.
- Independent and sound judgment with strong problem solving skills.
