Manager, Infrastructure & Timberland
The Organisation
The Future Fund was established in April 2006 by the Australian Government to make provision for the Commonwealth’s unfunded superannuation liabilities. Combined with investment responsibility for three Nation-building Funds, the organisation has over $100 billion under management.
The Team
This Infrastructure Timberland team is responsible for a $7 billion global portfolio making it one of the largest infrastructure investors in the world. The team is responsible for both listed and unlisted investment strategies across both risk profiles and geographies and takes a hybrid approach – working with the best Managers in the world as well as undertaking investment activity in house.
The Position
Working with a small but highly focussed team and reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and Timberland, the Manager Infrastructure Timberland will hold key responsibilities to:
- support the development of the strategy on global Infrastructure Timberland, in particular, to take a leading role in developing and maintaining the Fund’s listed infrastructure programme;
- build and maintain enduring relationships with managers, advisors, investors and other partners;
- support senior team members in recommending to proceed to investment due diligence on both assets and Managers, and then manage the detailed process;
- negotiate agreements with third parties including managers and other service providers;
- assist in the design and ensure delivery of regular performance reporting of the Infrastructure Timberland portfolio; and
- support decision making for team members on advisory boards of Infrastructure Timberland funds and boards of companies in which the Fund invests.
The Requirements
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- minimum 7 years relevant experience;
- direct infrastructure transactions or has undertaken a role in buy or sell side in listed infrastructure as a fund manager, investor or adviser;
- degree qualified, high numeracy and proficient skills in financial modelling and undertaking asset valuations;
- experience in assessing various operational, governance, legal and corporate structures of infrastructure assets , listed or unlisted, or investment management groups; and
- Knowledge of listed markets including Equity Capital Markets transaction structures is preferable.
