Summary:
Responsible for retrieving data from the company's integrated data repository and other company supported databases, and developing analytical tools, models and reports that support daily, weekly, monthly and ongoing plan management activities. Responsible for analyzing data and interacting with management to develop plan improvement initiatives including cost containment, revenue enhancement, quality improvement and medical trend improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Retrieves data from integrated reporting repository and other company supported databases using Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel and Sequel to support all ad hoc data needs and the development of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports for the Finance, Network Development, HCMS, Marketing and Health Promotion areas of the plan.
- Develops and manages models for tracking and projecting revenue, medical costs, administrative costs and profitability.
- Develops and manages models to monitor and project medical cost trends in total and by category to support financial planning activities and/or rate development.
- Responsible for assisting with the completion of annual premium, medical cost and administrative cost budgets and mid-year reforecasts.
- Through collaboration with HCMS, Network Development, Marketing, Health Promotion, and Finance teams, creates analytical tools and reports to be used in managing the plan.
- Analyzes premium, medical cost and administrative cost data and identifies cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities. Active participant in Health Plan MEI team and meetings.
- Provides support in areas of claims accruals, large case analysis and any other assigned duties related to the monthly or quarterly accrual process.
- Performs other analysis or duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with MBA preferred
- 3 years of managed care finance analytical experience required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical ability with a working knowledge of a structured query language, such as SQL or Microsoft Access, is required. A working knowledge of SQL is preferred. Extensive experience with spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel, plus working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products, is required.
- Working knowledge of Managed Care Finance and Analytics and provider reimbursement methodologies is preferred.
- Strong communications skills, both written and oral required - ability to present information effectively to corporate management, plan management and providers.
- Ability to interface effectively with both technical and business owners is required.
- Ability to function effectively with a minimum of direction, relying on internal motivation and personal experience to analyze problems and seek out solutions.
