Manager of Accounting

This position reports to the Director of Accounting. This position will be based in Boca Raton, Florida.

 
Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Accounting in overseeing the accounting operations in support of Tyco's U.S. corporate function and a segment business unit. This includes but not limited to general accounting, judgments with regard to the application of accounting principles and policies, financial reporting, and external/internal audit coordination.
 
This position will also be responsible for managing and refining various post Center of Excellence transformation aspects, with an emphasis on improving the monthly closing process and the work streams supporting it. Additionally, position will focus on driving efficiencies, developing staff and leveraging best practices across the North America teams.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Responsible for monthly close process of several US ledgers including review of all journal entries for 3 direct reports.
·         Responsible for delivering monthly,  quarterly and annual reporting requirements for submission to Tyco's consolidation team
·         Evaluate current monthly close process to comply with new submission requirements of one less day with increased focus on the team's current work allocation.  
·         Develop and maintain relevant financial reports to aid in the review of the monthly close and also preparation of  other management reports.
·         Responsible for preparation of the Controllership package (twice a quarter)
·         Interface with technical accounting team for any complex transactions.
·         Review and approval of monthly account reconciliations…ensure preparation and review is done within Tyco guidelines.
·         Support any ad hoc activities resulting from the pending separation
·         Interface with multiple corporate functions (FPA, Tax, HR, legal) to understand requirements and improve accrual process
·         Review of current intercompany process and recommendation for improvement
·         Documentation and Review of SOX controls.
·         Manage, develop and set goals for staff.
·         Establish relationship with internal customers with emphasis on creating environment where Center of Excellence is looked to as resource for accounting guidance and a business partner.

Education:       Bachelor's degree in accounting
            CPA Certification Preferred
Experience:     
·         8+years experience in accounting, with at least 3 years of management experience.
·         The candidate must have proven ability to supervise and develop staff of 3-5 people.
·         The candidate must demonstrate ability to identify and implement process improvements, be a self-starter, and effectively interact and communicate across multiple organizations/functions. 
·         The candidate must be comfortable with complex accounting matters and demonstrate competency in US GAAP, current accounting regulations and internal controls.
·         The candidate must have strong communication (oral and written) and relationship building skills. 
·         Experience with Oracle ERP ledger systems is preferred
·         Experience with Hyperion Enterprise is preferred
·         Experience with Blackline account reconciliation software is preferred.
