Manager of Electrical System Design Solar Job in Mountain View 94041, California US
I am seeking an enthusiastic, high-energy, hands-on Electrical Design Manager who is self-motivated and takes pride in delivering consistently high quality work products. The Electrical System Design Manager is responsible for providing customers, partners, as well as the sales, marketing and engineering teams with technical support and documentation necessary to design, commission, and operate solar power plants enabled with our technology. The Electrical System Design Manager will initially operate in an individual contributor role and will build an industry leading team to support the growing needs of commercial and utility-scale solar system deployments around the world.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create installation guides to include system and module reference design. Work with customers on prepared installation templates for initial design, installation and operations.
- Support in-field and HQ personnel with technical and design guidance with customers and partners providing industrial electrical expertise
- Outline and detail training and trouble-shooting documentation.
- Increase the breadth and depth of technical relationships with customers, partners, and industry influencers such as regulatory safety experts.
- Identify opportunities for and provide input on new features, requirements, modifications, or competitive needs to the product management process.
- Author white papers and present technical subject matter to customers and partners representing the company’s advantages.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- 15+ years of industrial/commercial electrical system design experience.
- Outstanding technical communications skills, both written and oral, with the presence, stature, and confidence to serve as trainer/spokesperson for the company.
- Track record of leading, organizing and directing with an ability to inspire peers as well as customers and partners.
- Commitment to developing environmentally and financially sound business operations.
- Must be able to travel regionally and internationally at short notice with an average travel expectation of up to 50%.
- 3-phase AC and/or power electronics with renewable energy generation experience, a strong plus.
- Knowledge of PV inverter (power conversion) technologies and companies is highly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required to lead system documentation.
- 1+ year experience in customer facing field service, troubleshooting and design support in commercial photovoltaic power conversion or related fields.
- Line or project management experience is required.
- Permitting experience: fire, electric and building codes compliance familiarity.
- Strong knowledge of US National Electrical Code and familiarity with European electric codes and regulatory safety standards is desired.
- NABCEP certified.
- Experience in the use of yield modeling tools such as PV-SYST, PV-DesignPro, or similar is a definite plus.
- Proficiency in the use of laboratory test equipment and computer driven diagnostic software is required.
- Start-up company experience or comparable experience developing a new business entity within a larger corporation is important.
- Proficiency in Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese or French is an advantage.
- Professional Engineering license desired.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Physics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience is desired.
