As Manager of Patient Access for at Aurora Medical Center - Summit, imagine yourself *Managing the day-to-day operations of Patient Access, Volunteer Services, Switch Board and Pastoral Care for Aurora Medical Center-Summit. *Being responsible for assuring accurate and complete information is procured to meet the requirements of registration, medical record initiation, billing, finance, marketing, governmental agencies and other strategic initiatives while ensuring seamless patient access and optimal customer service in all areas of responsibility and having 24/7 accountability for areas of responsibility. *Managing the day-to-day operations of volunteer services and affiliated areas, including both paid and volunteer staff. Interviewing, selecting and assigning volunteers to various programs within the hospitals and several ambulatory sites to meet both the needs of the hospital as well as the needs of the volunteers. Overseeing the scheduling of volunteers on an ongoing basis and arranges for coverage in the event of an absence. *Ensuring that formal volunteer programs and continuing training programs are conducted and meet Joint Commission on Health Care Accreditation Standards. Being responsible for overseeing the record keeping functions which includes ensuring the time recording; volunteer files, administrative reports and departmental payroll are completed in a timely manner. Managing volunteer database to ensure electronic timekeeping is accurate and volunteer data is current. *Collaborating with interdisciplinary management, PAS Quality and Training, Information Services, Clinical Information Services, Business Office and other leadership to standardize policies, work standards and processes while taking into consideration of needs of finance, government agencies, business operations, marketing, and strategic initiatives of site or region. *Utilizing performance improvement techniques and quality/quantity standards to analyze processes in order to streamline workflow design operations, improve quality and service and revenue cycle performance and participating in multidisciplinary teams for process improvement. *Overseeing surveys and ensuring satisfaction of patients, staff, and physicians and following up on concerns, complaints and issues to maximize internal/external customer satisfaction and quality. *Analyzing problem trends to determine and fix root causes and develops ideas and making recommendations for refinements, initiating implementation as appropriate. *Collaborating with patient access departments to initiate new procedures, revising and refining as needed (includes: Policy / Procedure manuals, JCAHO requirements, insurance plan updates, training programs, etc). *Participating in the development of capital, operating and personnel budgets and being accountable for operating within that budget. *Serving as a liaison between departments, determines the needs of departments within the hospital, and develops new volunteer areas of assignment in accordance with these needs. *Serving as liaison to Information Services and other areas using PAS software. Presenting technical problems in formats understandable to both technical support and the user and assisting with conversion planning, system options, procedure development and training. *Establishing and maintaining contact with maintains effective communication with patients, families, department and medical staff and acts as a liaison to assure efficient department operations with exceptional quality and service and also establishing maintaining community groups and organizations to promote and maintain a positive image of the volunteer programs. *Performing human resource responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary counseling, terminations, and employee morale. *Being responsible for understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Excellence and for ensuring personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws that affect Aurora's business.
