MANAGER, PHARMACY OPERATIONS

The operations manager is responsible for oversight of drug storage, security and distribution, and improvement of the medication use process through collaboration, communication and on-going improvement initiatives.  These activities are to ensure that the pharmacy provides optimal services and meets all legal, accreditation and certification requirements on a daily basis.  Coordinates the departmental Quality Analysis and Performance Improvements (QAPI) Plan with Pharmacy leadership, and oversees the Medication Error Reduction Plan [MERP].  The operations manager participates in employee hiring, discipline, promotions and performance evaluations process. The operations manager assists the clinical manager with the cost effective use of drugs, ensuring formulary compliance and evaluation, monitoring utilization patterns and reviewing the literature to assure the most up to date, effective therapy practices with respect to drug therapy are being utilized.  Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students. This position will routinely interact with physicians, nursing staff and other healthcare workers in committees, workgroups and individual interactions. Perform staff pharmacist duties when needed.

Pharm D. Degree required and a California Pharmacist license.  AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider.  Minimum 5 years acute hospital experience preferred, with 3 years in a clinical pharmacy position required.  Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills required.  Good drug information retrieval skills required.  Excellent computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.: PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and previous management experience preferred.
