Salary: $90,000 - $134,500

Responsibilities:

The operations manager is responsible for developing and coordinating a work plan and schedules for the Capital, Incremental, OM, and Failure work performed at Transmission and Distribution substations for the EAI Transmission Grid. The manager is responsible for ensuring that tasks are planned and scheduled in a timely manner and adequate time and resources are allocated to complete the work safely. This position will also be looking to ensure all Standards and Procedures are followed and that all revisions or additions to such procedures are clearly communicated across the Grid Organization.  The manager shall manage vendor contracts and contract resource. The manager should also ensure that the Capital, Incremental, OM, and Failure work plans are executed within the approved Capital and OM budget.

Essential duties include (but are not limited to): 

·         Proactively approach safety and excel in the role of Safety Leader.

·         Maintain asset changes in accordance with configuration management requirements and procedures.

·         Provide organizational focus for activities related to SERC/NERC standards compliance.

·         Provide oversight of required SERC maintenance tasks to ensure they are executed within established intervals.

·         Ensure transmission and distribution protection system failures and maintenance activities are properly evaluated and performed in accordance with established procedures.

·         Provide direct supervision to engineering, technical and planner/scheduler and analytical personnel.

·         Prepare, trend, monitor and manage Grid Capital and OM budgets.

·         Trend, publish and institute corrections to control budgets within guidelines.

·         Develop, trend and monitor Grid maintenance plans.

·         Provide technical analysis and leadership for reliability issues.
Develop capital infrastructure programs and plans that positively impact customer and system reliability.

·         Champion the AM Work Management Process

·         Propose and implement other process and/or cost improvements utilizing ECI tools.

·         Support routine and emergency response to substation problems including DFR support, service restoration and root cause analysis.

·         Maintain interfaces with Transmission and Distribution Operation Centers(TOC/DOC), engineering staff, distribution personnel, major accounts representatives and other internal and external customers.

·         Interface appropriately with engineering design and construction personnel to insure maintainability of installed assets.

·         Establish and promote good employee relations, morale and teamwork.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Knowledge of utility safety policies and exceptionally strong commitment to safety.  

·         Familiar with NERC/FERC/SERC requirements related to utility industry.

·         Significant understanding of Substation Work Management System (SWMS), Transmission Automated Outage Request System(TAORS), Paperless Condition Report system( PCRs)  or similar software programs.

·         BS required  BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.

·         Strong background in protective relaying and substation power equipments.

·         Supervisory experience in Transmission/distribution area.

·         Available and on-call 24 hours/day to respond to system emergencies, which often require immediate decisions and actions

Desired Qualifications:

·         Good organizational, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

·         Familiar with current technology such as SCADA systems and EMS.

·         Professional Engineering License.

·         Strong understanding of change and configuration management and prior experience in substation configuration management area.

·         Eight to twelve years of substation experience..
