Managing Accountant & Assistant to COO

My client based in Salisbury has a new job opportunity for a Management Accountant and Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer within a small company environment.

You will proactively work alongside other department managers to ensure the smooth running of the company so you will need to be a proven “All rounder” with strong business partnering skills.
You will also oversee training of new members of the team and recognise when further training is required and manage the training needs of the team as and where applicable.

Managing Accountant requirements will incorporate:

Producing weekly, monthly and quarterly figures for the Ombudsman and to attend management meetings.
Oversee and manage customer support, invoicing, disbursements and cash, manage bank accounts, pay suppliers.
Collect debt and manage aged debt.
Maintain high customer service standards.
Ensure all records are kept accurate and accessible for VAT and audit inspections.
Ensure documents and information are prepared for VAT return.
Maintain relationships with critical administrative contacts such as insurance, chartered accountants and bankers.
Keeping all staff files up to date.
Monthly management accounting completion.
Create a rolling forecast for expenses and management accounts.
To assist in creating the annual budget for Office, Board and Council.

Personal Qualities:
Ability to work under pressure to meet targets.
You will ideally be a fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, AAT) with proven experience of preparation of monthly accounts, budgeting and planning.
Good prioritising, problem solving and time management and organisational skills.
Able to work individually and use initiative.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Good spoken and written communication skills.
Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
Good 'people skills' when working with colleagues and comfortable working in a small, busy office environment.
Can demonstrate enthusiasm, willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ and confidentiality.
Strong work ethic and business acumen.
