Managing Director, Group Strategy recruitment
Job Description
You will advise and support Standard Chartered top management in addressing key strategic issues across both the wholesale and consumer banking businesses, as well as the franchise overall.
You will provide counsel to the Board of Directors, CEO, and senior management, by working closely with the Group Head of Strategy and Corporate Development and the Wholesale and Consumer Banking Strategy Heads.
Key Roles Responsibilities
(1) Intellectual and problem solving leadership
- formulate strategic agenda for the Group and set direction for projects, understand bank-wide issues and interlinkages across businesses
(2) Impact and value add
- prioritize resources and manage team to deliver high quality and impact end, products.
- take a client-oriented and commercial (i.e. investment/return-oriented) view on recommendations
(3) Project management
- take full ownership and end-to-end accountability for all project work.
- lead multiple teams concurrently across group-wide projects and effectively manage/delegate to senior team members.
- lead problem-solving and critical process issues throughout the engagement process
(4) Personal gravitas and creditability with stakholders
- develop strong 'thought partner' relationships with key stakeholders at Group and business level and is viewed as a sounding board on all critical strategic issues.
- represent Group Strategy at senior forums and possess sufficient credibility to influence decision making
(5) Team management and coaching
- take direct ownership for the development of team members in Singapore
- recognized as a 'people leader' in developing a caring yet stretching and developmental environment for strategy team members at all levels
- live values and act as a strong role model for the strategy team
(6) Collaborative interaction
- work closely with current co-head of Group Strategy East and other peers in strategy, business and functions in a collaborative fashion, while maintaining the obligation to dissent
Qualifications Skills
(1) Consulting experience
- ideally prior Partner/Associate Partner/Senior Project Manager in top consulting firms (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc) serving financial institutions or in-house strategy department at leading financial institutions
- proven record of advising senior management and having front-line impact
- well rounded advanced consulting skill set with strong 'EQ' and people leadership skills in addition to problem solving
- Proven ability to write senior management/ Board papers particularly critical
- Prior experience in Standard Chartered's footprint (Africa, Asia and Middle East) important
- Asian or Arabic language skill an advantage
- Domicile in Singapore necessary; travelling expected
