Manufacturing Engineer I Job in Bloomington, Minnesota US
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Provides support for all of the manufacturing systems and products that are produced at SICK Inc.. Additional responsibilities include: documentation of assembly fixtures; providing manufacturing process development; supporting current production and process improvements; maintenance and creation of production documentation and to provide support of manufacturing engineering activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of a 4-year Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree or related equivalent.
· At least 1- 3 years experience in process development in an electronics production environment.
· Demonstrated ability with Graphics packages or AutoCAD.
· Requires good mechanical skills and an aptitude for production as well as product development.
· Requires good documentation skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively.
· Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative and team oriented environment.
· Demonstrated experience in the electronics industry required.
· Must have good intuitive skills regarding methods and processes required for assembling electronic components and modules.
Operations Support - Provides support consistent with SICK Inc. values including the support of production management goals to assure on-time delivery, operational efficiency, continuous improvement, optimal communications, and employee training.
Manufacturing Engineering Support - Provides support for manufacturing engineering that is geared towards continuous improvement, problem solving, corrective actions, and analysis.
Continuous Improvement - Provides support for all continuous improvement efforts in operations that is geared towards cost reductions, increased reliability, and improved process capability.
Technical Support - Coordinates with, and provides information and technical support to all departments as appropriate and/or requested. Provides regular feedback and works cooperatively with the engineering functions to improve product throughput and first time yield performance.
Documentation - Creates and maintains all manufacturing documentation that is used to properly manufacture all SICK products. Responsible for the maintenance and up keep of all method sheet documentation in use by production and supports the Process Change Order (PCO) process that is used to track all changes to the documents. Additionally, supports activities that help document support processes, fixtures, and test systems.
Data collection –Responsible for maintaining all data collection charts for monitoring the health of the production systems and processes. Collects, catalogs, and displays all the data on a timely basis as required.
Establish bills-of-materials, routings and specification in order to baseline and control design.
Support new product introductions.
Assist the implementation, modification and maintenance of test equipment.
Prepare estimates of manufacturing costs for approval.
Ensure that the processes maintain the highest standard of quality as products are produced on a daily basis.
Provide electronic expertise for all test equipment.
