We are seeking an ambitious and industrious Manufacturing Engineer who will design, develop, test and evaluate integrated systems for managing production processes including flow, standard work, line balancing, elimination of waste, quality control, and on the line engineering support. Provides expertise and technical support to assembly operations to solve manufacturing problems. Other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides expertise and technical support to operations to quickly solve manufacturing problems, such as fit-up, parts issues, or process issues via data driven decisions
2. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to continuously improve existing manufacturing methods, flow, and equipment in order to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies while meeting customer demand. (Lean)
3. Operations representative on new product design teams addressing Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), Layouts, ECRs, etc…
4. Design cell layouts to improve space utilization and efficiencies. Continuously improve line designs to increase efficiencies and match demand.
5. Establishes and maintains appropriate and timely documentation for manufacturing projects such as Work Instructions, Metrics, Schedules, ECR/ECOs, etc …
6. Give training presentations and mentor operations personnel in the application and implementation of Lean techniques.
7. Provides expertise and technical support to non-assembly processes to improve flow, reduce costs, eliminate waste, and develop/implement continuous improvements (Lean).

 

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 4 years engineering working experience in manufacturing industry with demonstrated success in Lean Manufacturing implementations

KNOWLEDGE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems components
• Overall knowledge of manufacturing and operations processes
• Proficient with Lean tools such as 5S, 7 Forms of Waste, Mistake Proofing, Value Stream Mapping, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Metrics, Takt Time, Kanban, Kaizen, etc...
• Demonstrated success in Lean Manufacturing implementations
• Proven problem solving skills and project implementation ability with continuous improvement objectives
• Strong engineering analysis skills
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills
• Strong organizational, project, and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Willingness to offer a service-oriented function as a technical resource to work teams
• Strong presentation and team skills with the ability to lead and facilitate cross functional teams
• Able to interact with all functional areas and all organizational levels
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Fluent English
• Self motivated with a high level of initiative
• Able to be critical and accept criticism
• Able to travel to other Company locations and provide support as needed

COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Proficient in use of MS Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Experience using Microsoft Project and Visio
• Working knowledge of ERP system, such as BAAN
• Capability to learn new software
