We are currently looking to recruit for a senior analyst role in the ALM risk team. This team covers the non-traded market risks on Santander UK's balance sheet and provides risk analysis, reporting and challenge to internal departments and senior management.

This rewarding role gives the opportunity to apply your understanding of the dynamics of a non-traded bank balance sheet through a wide variety of detailed analysis, development of new reports and responding to new requirements in a demanding environment.

As a Risk Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

A proven track record of experience with non-traded market risk, either in a risk function or related area
Knowledge of the market risk of fixed and variable Retail and Corporate products, as well as the ways the risk exposures are managed by the ALM Front Office team
Educated to degree standard or equivalent in quantitative subject
Strong working knowledge and experience of non-traded market risks within a bank, and the mechanisms used to manage and mitigate them
Experience of market risk measurement techniques (VaR, sensitivities, economic capital).
Good working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Proven ability to explain complex issues to both a technical and non-technical audience
Experience of ALM systems (e.g. QRM, Bancware)
Experience of fixed and variable Retail and Corporate product market risk
Strong attention to detail and a good 'feel' for risk numbers
Knowledge of regulatory regimes (FSA, Basel) and working knowledge of Spanish will be beneficial

As a Risk Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:

Refining existing stress test processes and reports, and developing new stresses
Varied use of QRM, our principal risk modelling tool, delivering both ad hoc analysis and contributing to keeping the models up to date
Calculation of IRRBB capital requirements
Providing detailed analysis required to deliver key new projects, including preparing for the additional business that Santander is acquiring from RBS
Assessing the market risk exposures of proposed new products and ensuring these are reflected in market risk reporting
Understanding, reviewing and challenging ALM strategy
Maintaining and updating documentation (e.g. market risk mandates)

As well as giving significant exposure to non-traded market risk management team, this role will require liaising with our key stakeholders, including the ALM Front Office, the quantitative risk team, Finance and occasionally Santander Group in Madrid.

Salary: up to £70,000 + £6,000 car allowance and benefits
