Job Overview:

• Driving and implementing change within the Global Market Risk Department to improve the group’s operational effectiveness.

• Involvement in the re-engineering and streamlining of global market risk reporting processes.

• Involvement in the delivery of new tools, techniques and metrics for senior management and/or the risk managers.

• Interacting very closely with the risk managers to understand business requirements on various initiatives, and producing Business Requirements Documents.

• Engaging and interacting with various groups of the firm - acting as a key liaison between Market Risk, the FO, IT, Internal Audit and other Control Divisions.

• Interacting with senior management within the Risk Division and across the firm.

Skills Experience Required:

• Understanding of risk management principles.

• The candidate will need to demonstrate they have experience in delivering projects and balancing time, scope and budget.

• Having the ability to work at a conceptual level and translating these ideas into detailed plans to achieve the desired outcome.

• Strong delivery record of different types of initiatives: reporting standards; re-engineering key control processes; and driving system change.

• Development of market risk control related frameworks (e.g. limits, trading mandates, pre-trade approval processes).

• Strong understanding of banking regulation, governance and control standards. 

• Strong project management skills (status reporting, issue tracking and escalation).

• Good understanding of market risk management principles; controls; functions and interdependencies.

• Banking background in a similar function

• Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills.

• Ability to use their own initiative and provide a constructive challenge.

• Team player and strong client relationship skills.

• Intermediate /advanced skills in the following systems: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

Desirable:

• A combined qualification in either Finance,/Accounting or IT would be desirable

• ACA and/or CFA qualified would be advantageous.
