Market Suveillance Analyst recruitment

This is a key role which involves executing the Market Surveillance activities as defined in the global processes and procedures to deter and detect Market Abuse providing effective and efficient Market Surveillance services to the Trading team

You will have responsibility for the following:

* Market Event Monitoring,
* Trade Surveillance,
* Electronic Communication Monitoring;
* Assist in conducting trade analysis,research and review events that may indicate market abuse following established processes and procedures;
* Track Market Surveillance events in the team's case management tool.;
* Prepare clear,concise,accurate and logically written event/case reports for the Market Surveillance Team;
* Build and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholder’s that interact with the Market Surveillance Team;
* Other tasks,projects and initiatives as assigned

To be successful in this role you should have the following background:

 Experience in energy commodity trading, market risk management, deal structuring or settlements;
• An understanding of energy commodity trading, market abuse and excessive speculation rules and regulations of the FSA;
• Some understanding of Market Abuse and Surveillance activities on exchanges and trading platforms in Europe including ICE Europe, ICE Global OTC, EEX, etc;
• Some understanding of Trade Compliance and Regulatory risks and how they relate to Market Surveillance activities to deter and detect Market Abuse;
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, expert in MS Excel and MS Access data analysis;
• Experience with very large data sets, advanced database querying, data mining, exploratory analytics, operational alert engines, case management.
• Strong analytical, organisational, problem solving and communications skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently;
• Ability to prioritise work flows and ensure deadlines are met;
• Ability to operate under pressure while remaining flexible to address changing priorities;
• Some prior experience in Market Surveillance, Market Investigations, Trade Compliance or Risk Control (Would be beneficial).
