Marketing & Investor Relations / Commodity Hedge Fund recruitment

Job Description

Exceptionally-talented Marketing / Investor Relations professional sought.  The successful candidate will help develop and manage the firm’s diverse investor base of funds of hedge funds, sovereign wealth, pensions, and family offices.  Since this will be the firm’s first full-time hire in Marketing / IR, the candidate must be highly-motivated, proactive and able to work independently. 

This is a junior to mid-level position with plenty of opportunity to advance as the firm grows.  More experienced applicants may be considered for the role of Marketing Director.

The firm is considering establishing a New York office, and the position may be based in New York or Portland, OR.  The anticipated start date will be July 1 to October 1.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage client relationships.  Manage firm’s contact database.

• Understand and clearly articulate the Funds’ strategy to existing and prospective investors.

• Prepare marketing documents / analyses / presentations for client meetings and industry conferences.   

• Field data requests from investors and other ad hoc analyses and project work as requested.

• Travel regularly to the firm’s home office, industry conferences, and investor’s offices.

Experience/Skills:

The successful candidate will have 4-10 years of professional experience in finance, ideally with exposure to commodities or managed futures.  In addition, at least 2 years will have been spent in a dedicated sales/marketing/cap-intro/relationship-management role.

• Clear understanding of finance, hedge funds, commodities and managed futures. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.

• Familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint to develop and present data-intensive analyses.

• Demonstrated proficiency in multi-tasking, problem solving, and management of deadlines.

• Excellent work ethic, keen attention to detail and well-organized.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Self starter with a drive to grow into a leadership role.

• Masters, CAIA, or CFA preferred.
