Math Instructional Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities The instructional specialist will be employed for twelve months with a 37.5 hour weekly work load as determined. The instructional specialist may be responsible for the delivery of instruction, assist students and proctor testing in a computer lab, provide program support, conduct program development for developmental mathematics courses, and perform administrative tasks. Teach developmental mathematics. Maintain scheduled office, classroom and laboratory hours both on and off- campus sites as required. Proctor developmental mathematics lab including testing and assisting students with online assignments and technical issues. Participate in Academic Studies and Pierpont programs and meetings. Participate in program review and assessment. Maintain mutually respectful relationships with peers, staff and students. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by dean of the School of Academic Studies and Program Coordinator. Participate in recruitment and retention of students. Assist in the collection and analysis of assessment data. Assist testing administrator with placement testing during summer and breaks, proctoring, and data entry. Assist School of Academic Studies with incoming student registration, etc during summer and breaks. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required Skills: Preferred Qualifications BS or BA in Mathematics, Mathematic Education or related field and evidence of strong computer skills. Demonstrated teaching ability teaching mathematics in a Community College and understanding the needs of developmental students. Ability to work well with a team. Computer technical skills.
