Mathematics PhD- Software Engineer+ Quantitative Researcher- 3+ years- US Fund- $300K+++ recruitment
Global hedge fund with offices in London and Connecticut are looking to bring on board a mathematician with strong programming skills as an engineer/ quant researcher.
Overview
Currently with operations spanning the US and UK the firm is known for being a major player across the quantitative field. They trade across all asset classes and have a large share of the equities market in the US. Due to expansion plans the firm are keen to bring on board a PhD mathematician with a strong engineering or developing background to come on board as a senior quant researcher/ engineer for their US office. The candidate must have leadership capabilities but also have a PhD in mathematics as aspects of the role will include developing models that contribute to building the strategies that go into trades.
In addition you will be working on real time trading systems- building the infrastructure and platforms for trading whilst also maintaining existing systems. Development work whilst working closely with the researchers and the traders is also a key aspect of the role. The majority of the work will be across UNIX/ Linux with hands on development work across object orientated languages such as C/C++, Matlab, Gauss and SQL. It is very much a project management position as a hybrid of an engineer and a quant researcher.
It is quite rare to find such an opportunity to fully utilise your skill set of mathematical modelling and software development in such a leadership and project management role. The firm have historically focused on quality rather than quantity and have favoured gradual growth rather than rapid expansion. They are keen to develop a collegiate and research driven environment, driven by the people and the technology at the firm.
You
• Must have a PhD in mathematics
• Strong programming skills and commercial experience in C/C++
• Languages that are desirable are Gauss, Matlab, and SQL.
• At least 3 years software development or engineering experience.
• Capabilities to lead a team/ be a project manager.
• Motivated by mathematical modelling and development
