Mechanical Design Engineer Job in Cambridgeshire , Anglia UK
Our client of choice is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
The objective for this role is to develop cost effective designs for use in company products and be involved with: component mgt, Approvals issues, Manufacturing equipment issues, fault diagnostics e.g. Quality cases / production issues.
Main responsibilities
Produce mechanical designs for products and bespoke manufacturing equipment that meet Company, National, International standards, Regulatory, Statutory and Customer Requirements, Safety, Environmental and Cost Requirements.
Produce mechanical designs from product specifications or written instructions within a project team environment.
Produce design and test specifications and associated documentation for the mechanical design as required.
Select materials and components for a design and initiate the component approval process for those components, in conjunction with the EMEA Component Management Team as necessary.
Participate in design reviews to ensure best possible success of hardware solutions.
Responsible for construction and testing of prototype designs.
Work to strict company and ISO 9001 standards.
Ability to create complex part and assemblies with the company 3D CAD tools and produce high quality related drawings.
Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time as directed and to meet the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate will have the below skills / experience / qualifications:
Minimum of HND or equivalent (preferred 2:1 in Mechanical Engineering)
Previous product design experience (industrial placement).
Experience of Pro Engineer
Experience in measuring devices.
Experience in high volume manufacture, Design For Manufacture, Design For Assembly.
Experience of designing enclosures for electronics products
Familiarity with the principles of jig and fixture design.
Knowledge of the principles of designing with plastics
An understanding of the materials selection
Good awareness of modern manufacturing processes.
