Mechanical Design Engineer Job in Ely

Job Description:-

Our client based in Ely are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to be responsible for developing and improving new and existing products which can be sold directly or used as part of an engineered solution. Assisting the Product Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will provide concepts, calculations, engineering specifications, conduct tests and reviews of new and existing products.

Duties:

  • Assist with the development of a concept specification
  • Prepare product proposals for management review
  • Develop efficient, cost effective, modular components, products and product families
  • Develop standards which are complete and require no further engineering to manufacture, install or use
  • Ensure all design solutions are completed to specification, on time and within budget.
  • Develop and improve product cost competitiveness, encouraging and promoting the use of standardisation, proven design and low cost quality suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, including but not limited to our clients standards and procedures, national and international directives and standards.
  • Ensure all relevant health and safety standards are complied with
  • Ensure all design specifications are executed and checked in line with the clients quality assurance system
  • Ensure all documents and models are filed correctly, and with full version control.
  • Manage the cost of products and components
  • Research and develop new methods, materials and solutions
  • Take personal responsibility for the accuracy and delivery of quality design specifications
  • Check the accuracy and compliance of each other’s design specifications using ‘buddy’ system of checking
  • When leading a group of engineers, ensure the team are working to the correct specifications and are aware of all product/project objectives
  • Lead and motivate the team to ensure product/project objectives are met in full

  • To be considered for this opportunity you will ideally have structural design experience both long hand and using software. The ability to use AutoCAD and Inventor to design fabricated structures and machined components is a must.

    This is a fantastic opportunity working for a leader within their field, this role will have some international travel and you will have to work in all types of industrial plant so you must have UK driving license.

    Working hours – 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday
