Position Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer (Lavatory Products) is responsible for the design and development of all mechanical assemblies for the Aircraft Equipment Group (AEG) lavatory product line under the direction of the Vice President of Operations with a dotted line relationship to the Director of Commercial Programs.
General Descriptive Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Generate Top level and detail drawings of electro-mechanical products in accordance with Rogerson and customer submitted specifications for commercial aerospace markets.
- Review and compare drawings, technical specifications, maintenance manuals, and parts.
- Develop reliable, cost-effective designs for parts using solid modeling tools.
- Prepare drawings and illustrated parts catalogs as required.
- Writes acceptance test and qualification test plans and procedures.
- Assist in obtaining PMA certification as required.
- Interact with vendors to ensure the purchase of design-compliant materials.
- Report project details to both internal and external customers.
- Other tasks as required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering/technical field of study
- Minimum 5 years of related manufacturing experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
- Experienced in finite analysis and vibration analysis required
- High level of competence in the area of CAD solid modeling and drafting with Solidworks.
- Possess a strong knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 GDT practices and standards, tolerance analysis and have fluent technical communication skills.
- Ability to work well with all levels of personnel.
- Experienced with documentation control practices and database maintenance for organization of CAD files.
