Mechanical Designer/Drafter Job in New Brighton 55112, Minnesota US

Excellent opportunity for Mechanical Design Drafter to create and maintain design documentation and provide hands-on assistance to mechanical design efforts for medical device new product development. The designer will create clear and accurate models and detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, and be comfortable working with multidisciplinary projects that require mechanical design of plastics, tooling, and electromechanical product design.

Primary responsibilities include:

§          Design new parts and assemblies using Solidworks.

§          Generate CAD models, assemblies, and drawings from engineering requirements using good drafting practices.

§          Document engineering concepts.

§          Modify existing mechanical and schematic drawings and models according to engineering change orders. Generate bills of materials, perform dimensional checks for form and fit, and maintain design documentation per company procedures.

§          Design and build basic tooling, test fixtures and assembly equipment. Support prototype build and occasionally operate machine tools. Supporting design activities, identify, investigate, and solve engineering problems.

§          Interact with vendors to obtain equipment, components, supplies or services

§          Adhere to design control procedures, general safety rules, company policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and FDA regulations.

Requirements include:

§          AA degree in Mechanical Design, and 5 to 8+ years experience in design and documentation of injection molded and machined parts, modeling of mechanical components and assemblies,and experience with medical / FDA or other regulated design requirements.

§          Requires expert skills using SolidWorks prefer 5 + years experience, ability to work with complex parts and assemblies, and ability to follow ANSI Y14.5 drawing practices.

§          Requires experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, stack up tolerance analysis, and ability to identify technical problems and create solutions.

§          Prefer experience working with outside vendors, ability to source and order parts and supplies, and machine shop knowledge/experience.

§          Must be self directed, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities, and able to work in a fast paced and results driven environment.

§          Prefer experience with Surfacing and SolidWorks PDM enterprise.

§          Experience with Pro E software is a plus.

§          Knowledge of QSR, GMP and ISO13485:2003 preferred.
