Job Description:
Utilize academic and practical engineering experience to ensure the development and execution of new structural designs following The company's C2C Product Development process.
• Lead project definition and specification creation
• Develop designs primarily for, but not limited to, sheet-metal and plastic injection molding processes
• Lead technical design reviews
• Manage projects from a schedule and cost perspective
• Work with cross-functional organizations – such as the lab, materials engineering, quality, manufacturing, and procurement – to deliver on project objectives
• Work with the simulation group to gain an understanding of the design and its relation to physical inputs.
• Work with Manufacturing to deliver designs that meet the needs of a high-speed assembly process. In addition, work with Manufacturing on the vertically integrated processes, where applicable, to deliver designs that can be produced reliably .
What You Need To Succeed:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and a minimum 5 years industrial experience as a product development, engineer. Six sigma training desired. This role may be filled at a higher or lower level depending on qualifications and experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional global teams in a matrix environment.
• Knowledge in processes for creating mechanical components – especially sheet metal forming and plastic injection molding.
• Experience with consumer products – including customer facing components where aesthetics are important – is desired.
• Project Management knowledge and capability. Ability to understand financial related to designs (e.g. part cost, capital) are required.
• Self motivated and able to function with minimal oversight.
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• A drive to support your process partners – especially manufacturing – when issues arise that require engineering support to maintain efficient production or adequate supply.
• Ability to manage risk and escalate project issues when appropriate.
• Able to travel up to 2 times/month by car or airplane.
