Job Description: Media Director

GYK calls itself a marketing innovation company and offers a wide range of services including strategy and planning, branding and design, editorial services, digital, public and media relations, media planning and buying, broadcast and multimedia, and data and analytics. The company also offers a range of technology and tools and is developing licensed properties.
Overall Purpose:
The ideal Media Director is a highly passionate, collaborative, outgoing, creative oriented media leader. This person has an entrepreneurial spirit who does not settle for the expected and pushes ideas beyond the obvious possibilities. The Media Director should be an expert in the field, possessing a broad set of media, marketing and management skills. You should be comfortable being “media-agnostic” and not pre-disposed to certain mediums unless the client opportunity drives the decision. A comfort level with the dynamic shifts between paid, earned and owned media is essential. You will have ownership and direct responsibility for management within the media group and on key accounts. A seasoned candidate will also demonstrate the following responsibilities:
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Lead and manage multiple work streams of client business, serving as the primary and high-level contact to articulate the Agency’s view on media strategy and business philosophies.
- Responsible for comprehensive management of assigned accounts.
- Draw insight from program results and ensure dialog with client and internal team on informed strategic implications.
- Sell in new creative media ideas to clients that align with their business, customer and brand goals.
- Work closely with account, creative, PR and digital teams to ensure media plans and creative/measurement work are strategically aligned and client needs are met.
- Inspire clients with media knowledge and ideas.
- Develop new business opportunities with existing clients and assist in development of new client relationships.
- Promote positive working relationships within the department, the company and the media vendor community.
- Develop people within the team by coaching, indentifying areas for growth.
- Promote/sell media department capabilities across teams/company.
- Responsible for oversight of all program budgets.
- Must have a balance of traditional and online media knowledge.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years experience in roles of increasing responsibility (e.g., ad agency media department, media company or client side)
- Deep knowledge of all aspects of offline media
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of interactive media (all channels and pricing models)
- Knowledge of current trends and innovations in paid media
- Exemplary communication skills (persuasive writing, compelling oral)
- Detail-oriented with strong attention to follow-through
- Strong negotiating skills
- Experience using DoubleClick Dart advertising technologies
- Experience with online research tools such as Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance, Strata, etc.
- Proven leadership ability and previous client relationship experience
