Our St. Louis office has an exciting opportunity available in Medical Information for a Medical Information Communication Associate

The Medical Information and Communication Associate (MICA) is responsible for responding to inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers, and internal employees, by providing accurate and balanced information in a timely and authoritative manner consistent with corporate and regulatory guidelines. In addition, the MICA is expected to conduct thorough literature searches and evaluate and summarize published literature. The MICA is expected to be comfortable preparing and presenting professional educational presentations regarding Forest products and associated diseases.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Provide accurate and balanced information in a timely and authoritative manner consistent with corporate and regulatory guidelines when responding to inquiries from healthcare professionals and consumers.

-Prepare and deliver professional educational presentations on Forest products and related disease states to a variety of internal and external clients.

-Prepare, update, and review written documents ensuring content is clearly organized and uses proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.

-Provide support to internal departments including, but not limited to, Medical Affairs, Drug Safety and Surveillance, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Sales, and Sales Training.

-Maintain professional expertise on Forest products, competitor products, and related disease states. Maintain familiarity with medical information resources.

-Make appropriate decisions during management absence.

-Effectively work and communicate within a team setting to achieve predetermined goals.

-Adapt to changes in the marketplace and to changes in company- and department-driven initiatives.

-Assist with departmental projects, as needed.

-Be willing to travel via airplane to the New York and New Jersey corporate offices and to other distant locations for corporate meetings, training, and conventions as required.

-Employee conduct must be consistent with corporate and regulatory guidelines at all times.

-Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.

Requirements

Education:
Pharm.D. or BS Pharm.

Experience:
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or in a university or hospital-based setting in which medical information / communication activities were primary responsibilities, or equivalent experience.

Experience in communicating with healthcare professionals and with patients regarding drug therapy.

Experience in responding to medical information inquiries using product labeling and drug information resources.

Experience conducting thorough searches of the medical literature.

Experience in writing scientifically rigorous documents using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.

Experience in preparing and delivering professional educational presentations to varying audiences.

Licensure/Credentials:
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Missouri. An unlicensed individual will be expected to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to understand and follow regulatory guidelines and corporate directives regarding the provision of medical information in response to inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers, and internal sales colleagues.
Ability to verbally communicate effectively at all levels within the Forest organization. Ability to produce authoritative written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
Ability to comfortably and effectively train audiences of other Forest employees internal and external to Medical Information and Communication, on the pharmacology, pathophysiology, and therapeutic concepts associated with Forest products and related disease states.
Strong organization and planning skills. Is detail sensitive with ability to multitask and appropriately deal with many issues of high urgency simultaneously.
Ability to make sound decisions and exercise resourcefulness in meeting challenges.
Ability to manage time effectively assuring that deadlines are met.
Ability to work effectively in critical situations demanding that all other activities cease until resolution is accomplished.
Familiarity with primary, secondary and tertiary medical information resources; ability to search the medical literature using PubMed.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of IBM compatible computer, laser printer, fax machine and copier.

Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy and the ability to work cooperatively with other employees.

Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally.

Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with other Forest employees, including but not limited to members of Drug Safety, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Information and Communication, Marketing, Sales and Sales Training.

Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate via telephone with healthcare professionals and consumers.
