Medical Record Technicians organize, process, and maintain medical records and health information. They assemble, review, analyze, code, abstract, maintain, compile, and extract medical record and health data. Medical Record Technicians check medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Some Medical Record Technicians maintain clinical registries and work to meet the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. These health professionals usually work under the guidance of the Medical Record Administrator and are known by a number of titles depending on job function in the health care community.
