Salary: £31,160 - £41,148

Hays Healthcare are looking to recruit an, experienced and enthusiastic NMP nurse either with experience in the substance misuse field or a nurse who is looking to move into the substance misuse field. The role will be a senior nursing position to work for a new substance misuse service in Hull run by one of the UK’s leading substance misuse charities.

You will be leading and supervising a team of recovery nurses, ensuring the provision of high-quality clinical service in Hull. You will also work alongside the Clinical Lead to assess and prescribe to clients of increased risk and complexity.

Additionally you will deliver prescribing clinics: undertaking assessments, assessing prescribing needs and agreeing and reviewing recovery plans and delivering brief recovery-focused interventions. The post holder will also be responsible for communicating treatment/recovery plans to the service user, carer and relevant professionals.

Experience (through paid or voluntary work)

• Experience in providing a range of evidence-based and recovery-oriented treatment interventions to substance misusers
• Experience of leading on specific areas of service development or initiatives to improve service delivery within a health and/or social care setting.
• Experience of applying detailed knowledge of a range of prescribing treatments to support opiate and alcohol users engaged in medically assisted treatment regimes.
• Experience of providing consistent and structured line management and clinical supervision to practitioners within a health and/or social care setting.
• Experience of working as part of a management team, taking collective responsibility for meeting service objectives. (desirable)
• Independently mobile with the ability to move quickly across a geographically dispersed area

Knowledge

• An in-depth understanding and knowledge of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships.
• An understanding/awareness of current national policies on substance misuse and the strategies that influence the priorities of treatment services.
• Knowledge of the developing recovery agenda in the substance misuse field
• An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the treatments and interventions available to substance misusers and current guidance for the medical management of substance misuse.
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of good management practice in relation to the supervision, support, development and performance monitoring of staff.
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of good management practice in relation to performance management and the delivery of high quality and responsive services.
• Knowledge and understanding of policies related to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and how these influence practice.
• Knowledge of models of recovery.

Qualifications and Training

• Registered nurse RMN or RGN
• Nurse Independent / Supplementary Prescriber
• ENB 998 or equivalent
• Relevant training/education in BBV’s/Viral Hepatitis
• Training in anaphylaxis (desirable)
• Phlebotomy qualification (desirable)
• Management related qualification/s or training (desirable).
