This is a high profile, externally facing role and will suit a high calibre, high impact individual with excellent knowledge of the insurance industry gained from an insurer, consultancy or trade body. An understanding of legislative/regulatory development and implementation is essential and the ideal individual will demonstrate the ability to communicate complex technical information to a senior and well informed but non-technical audience.
Applicants will possess excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills, together with familiarity with the UK regulatory environment and the broader markets in which it operates. A high level of business acumen and commercial awareness is essential and will be complemented by an understanding of how regulatory policy is implemented within an insurance business. The role will focus on both the Solvency II directive and broader business model analysis within the context of a life or general insurer.
The role is highly visible and extremely varied and in addition to day to day duties will require the successful candidate to lead and motivate a team and to undertake networking and lobbying in the European arena. As such, strong negotiation and influencing skills are essential, together with practical problem solving skills and the ability to challenge senior management.
